Charlton centre-back Tal Ben Haim wants to see his side begin to pick up more points up away from home-starting on Saturday at Rotherham.

The Addicks were held 1-1 by Wolves at The Valley last night as Danny Batth’s second half equaliser cancelled out Andre Bikey-Amougou’s opener to deny Bob Peeters’ side another three points at The Valley.

But despite Charlton’s impressive home form and unbeaten start to the season, Ben Haim is hoping to see an improvement in results on the road after three consecutive away draws.

He said: “I think we have had a very good start, but if we want to be up there we have to pick more points away.

“I think our home form has so far been brilliant and we now have to pick up a few wins away.

“We have some tough games coming up and we hope to get good results.

“In the beginning everyone thought we were going to be down fighting for relegation.

“So we just hope to play well every game and take each game step by step and continue to be up there.”

When asked about his thoughts ahead of Saturday’s fixture at Rotherham, the former Chelsea and Manchester City defender admitted that it would be tough.

He said: “We have to go there and be 100 percent and I think that’ll be enough to get the result.

“We want to have a good run with a few wins, but it’s a tough league so we have to take it easy and play well and create chances.

Andre Bikey-Amougou volleys Charlton in front

“I’m sure we are capable of getting a good result there.”

Ben Haim was involved in the Addicks’ opener against Wolves by blocking an opponent to allow goal scorer Bikey the chance to convert, but the 32-year-old disagreed with Kenny Jackett's opinion the goal should have been disallowed.

“I don’t think it was a foul,” he explained.

“Obviously when you concede you’re disappointed, and you can understand it, but it was a great goal.

“First half I think we played some good football creating two very good chances,

“We could have scored one more and kill the game, but obviously we didn’t so second half they came back strongly.”

Charlton are Ben Haim’s eighth English club and the Israeli international explained it wasn’t a difficult decision to move to SE7.

He said: “I feel like it’s my second house, so I feel very good.

“My kids go to the same school, so the family are very happy with that.

“I want to play regularly, I want to improve myself and to go to a higher level.

“So I have to do that week-in, week-out - play good football and keep good form.”

Ben Haim also spoke of his admiration for Bob Peeters after the former Belgium striker brought the centre-half to The Valley.

“I think he is a really good manager.

“He doesn’t like to kick the ball long, he likes to play with the ball from the back.

“That’s what we like as well.

“I think we have played some good football so far this season, we just have to keep it going.”
