Rosler: Bees need more experienced heads

Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has revealed he is looking for experienced heads to help boost his side’s play-off challenge in 2012.

The Bees lost 2-0 at Charlton Athletic on Monday after Saturday’s 3-3 draw with MK Dons and the two results have left them three points adrift of the top six.

Rosler, who handed a debut to young midfielder Manny Oyeleke against MK Dons, extended the loan deal of Everton 18-year-old Jake Bidwell for another month on Thursday and added Watford’s 20-year-old midfielder Piero Mingoia to his roster until February.

But with skipper Kevin O’Connor sidelined until at least then, the Griffin Park chief insisted he needs more people of his ilk to build on a solid start that has them eighth in the League One table.

Although he will not break the bank to do it.

“Manny is a really talented player who has shown great performances in training and in development games,” said Rosler, ahead of Saturday’s trip to Tranmere Rovers.

“I felt I wanted to overload the midfield against MK Dons, but it was probably a little too much to ask of him.

“I think we need one or two experienced players to lead the young players we have. It is just about getting the right players at the right price. We are not in a rush to do that.

“Our captain Kevin O’Connor is an experienced player, I hope he will be back in February.

“We will make additions to the squad and I hope we can push on. We have reached a level where we need to kick on and make some additions to allow us to develop.

“These will be loan signings. It is all we can afford.”

Centre back Harlee Dean has also extended his loan spell from Southampton until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, former Norwich City mdifielder Michael Spillane has left the club by mutual consent having agreed to a contract termination that allows him to join Dagenham & Redbridge, where he has recently enjoyed a successful loan spell.
