Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has told fit-again Harry Forrester and Karleigh Osbourne they have an important role to play in his side’s 2012 play-off push.
The pair returned to full training before Christmas, having spent lengthy spells on the treatment table this term, but were not in the squad on Boxing Day as Leon Legge’s last-minute header rescued a 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth at Griffin Park.
Osbourne, who is out of contract at the end of the season, rose through the ranks at the Bees and will be hoping to impress Rosler enough to secure his footballing future.
Former Aston Villa trainee Forrester will be bidding to make his full debut after five appearances from the bench – having turned down European giants Ajax to join Brentford.
And Rosler expects the pair to excel as he tries to mastermind a top six finish in his first season in charge.
“Harry and Karleigh are a big part of our plans, but when you’ve been out for so long you can’t just walk in to the team,” he said.
“There is a lot of competition in their positions and they have to compete every day in training to impress and get their chance.”
The Bees host MK Dons and former striker Charlie MacDonald on Saturday and then go to Charlton on Monday.
Hampton & Richmond lost 2-1 to Staines Town on Boxing Day but were boosted by Dean Inman’s decision to sign a new 18-month contract.
