Former Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran traded life with the Blues for a switch to Brentford because the Bees' style of play suited him best.

The 22-year-old ended a 15-year spell at Stamford Bright to pen a four-year contract at Griffin Park on Friday, having failed to nail down a regular starting spot with the Blues.

McEachran was loaned out five times during his time with the Premier League champions and enjoyed a productive spell with Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem last term - where he caught the attention of Bees head coach Marinus Djikhuizen.

He admitted it was time for a fresh start in the game and that the Bees suited him in the same way life in the Dutch top flight had.

“I have been hearing a lot of positive stuff about Brentford," he told the club's website.

"I met the manager and I watched Brentford a lot last season and I think the style of play will suit me perfectly.

“There is a lot going on at Brentford and there are a lot of positive things happening.

"The style of play is the main reason why I came here but the manager, chairman and owner all had a big impact and I am really excited to be here.”
