Brentford boss Mark Warburton has urged his players to deliver a repeat of their efforts at Fulham over Easter to keep them in the play-off hunt this weekend.

More than 6,000 fans roared the Bees to a 4-1 win at Craven Cottage earlier this month and with 3,500 making the trip to Berkshire for Saturday’s crunch clash with Reading the manager is expecting another big performance.

“They thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Fulham. The challenge is to rise to the occasion,” he said.

“We’ve got 3,500 fans going which is fantastic and it is up to us to send them home happy.

“If we go there and put in a performance and the fans know they are 100 per cent on their game then everyone is happy.”

First half goals from midfielders Alex Pritchard and Jonathan Douglas were not enough for victory over Bolton Wanderers as they were held 2-2 at home.

Jota, left, was among those to be left frustrated by the Trotters’ back four.

The Spaniard, along with Pritchard, Alan Judge and and keeper David Button are among those in the running to be named in the Football League’s Championship team of the year.

And if they are honoured Warburton said it would be a measure of the efforts of the whole squad.

“It is always very pleasing when someone gets an award, but it is always about the team,” he added.

“I’m sure those players will be the first to agree that individual honours come thanks to the support of their team-mates.

“It is great to get that recognition, but it is a team effort.”

Striker Chris Long, who signed an extension to his loan from Everton on Monday, is expected to miss Saturday’s trip to the Madjeski stadium with a gash to his quad muscle.

He should be available for the visit of Wigan Athletic seven days later and Warburton is hoping his men, three points adrift of the top six, can take their play-off challenge down to a dramatic final day.

He said: “We’ve been fighting for a top play-off place all season and we are frustrated to have dropped points recently. Mistakes have been made. We are still right in this and there will still be some twist and turns.

“Our focus is getting 78 points and see where that leaves us. That it is still a magnificent score.

“Reading change their formation and personnel from week to week.

“We have been to some tough venues and enjoyed the challenge.”
