Brentford keeper Mark Smith could be set for a return to Hampton & Richmond Borough, but boss Alan Dowson may have to fight off other interest to land his signature.

The 19-year-old, who signed for the Bees last summer, has not been offered a new deal at Griffin Park, although he will continue to train with the Championship club until the end of the season.

Smith, who had been given the impression a new contract at Brentford was in the pipeline, has starred on-loan with the Ryman Premier League Beavers this term picking up two player of the month awards from the the club's supporters.

Bees boss Mark Warburton's decision to leave the club this summer had thrown doubt over the former QPR youngster's future.

Dowson, who signed former AFC Wimbledon keeper Seb Brown on loan from Conference South Bromley last week, revealed Smith quit the Beveree in a bid to secure his professional future.

It is thought there are already a number of other professional club's interested in signing the highly-rated young goalkeeper.
