Brentford boss Mark Warburton has backed his men to play their way out of his trickiest spell as a manager.
The Bees squandered a host of chances and two late goals saw them crash out of the FA Cup 2-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion at Griffin Park on Saturday.
It was Brentford’s third straight defeat and Warburton wants a reaction when Rotherham United – promoted alongside the Bees in May – visit this weekend.
“In many ways I’d rather lose a game of football playing horribly and give me something to work on,” he said.
“I said to them at half time that the first half was a pleasure to watch them play and that they had not got their just rewards.
“We have got to learn simple is best, don’t take liberties and if it is working, just keep doing it.”
He added: “We’ve got to be very respectful in terms of the quality of teams in this division.
“The neutral today will have seen a very good 65-70 minutes of football. I hope we can heed our lessons, train well this week and give a good display with a positive outcome.”
