Brentford boss Mark Warburton is not the only one pleased to see Alan McCormack back to full fitness.

Moses Odubajo deputised for the Irishman at full back in the Capital One Cup defeat to Fulham and promptly rolled his ankle - forcing him out of the 2-0 win at Rotherham United prior to the international break.

With 17 days away from action, the 21-year-old summer signing from Leyton Orient, who suffered a back injury in training prior to the start of the season, is fit again.

And, having been given a different perspective on life at Championship level after playing in every game until defeat to the Cottagers on the wing, he is ready to take his second chance.

“If the manager tells me that is where I’m playing then I’m going to pull my boys on and give it a go,” Odubajo, who played as a wing back for Leyton Orient against Brentford two seasons ago, but made his name last term as an attacker.

“As a forward, when you play as a wing back it makes you realise how much you appreciate the guy behind you. It is a demanding role.

“It is all a learning curve and you have to learn off every player in this division.

“You notice the sharpness at Championship level. You have to train yourself to be one step ahead of your opposite man.

“The games are more intense and you have to do that little bit more to create or stop a goal.”

Odubajo set League One alight last term as a winger with Orient and became one of Bees boss Mark Warburton’s first and most key acquisitions in the summer.

But the former Os trainee, who scored his first goal for the club against Birmingham City, insists the weight of expectation on his shoulders is only a good thing.

“It is good pressure. The higher up you go the more pressure there is, whether that is playing in front of 60,000 people of representing your country,” he added.

“Look at Raheem Sterling. He played for England the other night and everyone said he was the best despite his age.”

Odubajo had only one day off training during the international break as he battled to be fit for back-to-back home games against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday and Norwich City on Tuesday.

And he is ready to secure a first home win of the new season.

“It is going to be a high tempo game against a good footballing side on Saturday,” he said.

“At home you feel you have to create something every time you go forward, but sometimes that is not the best way to go.

“We just have to relax and create something when the time is right.”
