Defender Adam Thompson has not done enough to land a permanent return to Kingstonian – yet.

The experienced Tooting & Mitcham United centre back played the second half of Ks’ 1-0 win at Whyteleafe on Saturday, helping boss Tommy Williams’ men keep a clean sheet in his first appearance.

Thompson was a key man in the club’s Ryman Division One South title winning campaign under former boss Alan Dowson and is keen for a comeback.

But Williams will give him no preferential treatment.

“We played in the same league-winning side and he is someone I know very well,” he said.

“He contacted me over the summer about coming back and getting involved, but we are just seeing how it goes.

“He did very well on Saturday. I know exactly what he can do. He has good ability and good experience.

“There have been no guarantees made to him and he is going to have to prove himself.”

On the mark: Ryan Moss was back on the scoresheet for Kingstonian at the weekend

Striker Ryan Moss got Kingstonian’s pre-season off to a winning start as his 12th minute strike gave his side the win at Whyteleafe.

Boss Tommy Williams said: “It is good to have him back. He looked fit and sharp and did exactly what we brought him in to do.

“It was a good workout and everybody got a good 45 minutes into their bodies. I was pleased with everyone.

“We came through it injury free, which is the main thing at the minute as we look to build up the minutes players are playing.”

Kingstonian will host either Ryman Division South Lewes or Division North Tilbury in the first qualifying round at the end of October.
