Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper has not given up on the Ryman Premier League play-offs, but admits his side’s slow start to the season may have cost them a shot at promotion.

Goals from Tom Hickey, Joe Turner and Andre Da Costa gave the Blues a 3-2 win over Harrow Borough on Turesdday night to follow up Saturday’s 3-0 success over Hendon care of a Leon Smith hat-trick.

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Opening goal: Tom Hickey got the ball rolling with the first goal on Tuesday

Cooper’s men are 12th in the table and nine points adrift of the top five ahead of this weekend’s trip to Needham Market.

"We’ve won four of our last six games and if we can replicate that form for the rest of the season we will be close, “ he said.

“We’ve still got a chance, but we have to apply ourselves. It took us too long to get the current team together, but we cannot do anything about that now. It is what it is.”

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Doubled up: Met Police's Joe Turner grabbed the second in his side's 3-2 win over Harrow Borough

And Cooper knows the sort of performance his team delivered on Tuesday will help.

"The first half was the best performance I have seen from our team in my time in charge," he added.

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Win sealed: Andre Da Costa scored Met Police's third goal that ultimately secured three points on Tuesday

"It could have been 7-0 up at half time and they would have had no complaints. We were that dominant.

"We took our foot off the gas in the second half because we had the game won.

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Triple time: Leon Smith scored a hat-trick in Saturday's 3-0 win against Hendon

"Their two goals came in stoppage time so it was much more comfortable than the scoreline suggested. I had no worries."
