Midfielder John Swift says someone is going to take a pasting at the hands of Brentford sooner or later - and it could be Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Bees, who have been without a game since a 1-1 draw with Leeds United last month, head to the south coast on Friday looking to extend a two-match unbeaten run.

The Seagulls held head coach Dean Smith's side to a 0-0 draw at Griffin Park on Boxing Day, although the hosts felt they had plenty of chances to take all three points.

Brentford have had extra time on the training pitch over the past 10 days and Swift is hoping it will pay off.

"They are doing really well, despite having a bit of a slip, and we can definitely win the game," he said.

"The stats were in our fvavour at home, but we were just unlucky in the final third.

"Every player - in midfield or attack - is trying their best to score. The wide players and midfielders have to chip in. We cannot just leave it to the strikers.

"We work on one touch finishing and hopefully it will come off.

"When you cannot put goals to the chances we are creating it is annoying.

"We are creating the chances and sooner or later we will get the goals we deserve."

Swift extended his loan deal at Griffin Park until the end of the season during the January transfer window.

And he believes his game will have come on in leaps and bounds when he returns to parent club Chelsea.

"Playing week in week out and getting minutes on the pitch, has helped me get used to this position," he added.

"During spells at Swindon and Rotherham I have played different positions and I am playing a different one here.

"It has been good and I have enjoyed it. I enjoy an attacking role, but the hardest thing is keeping my place every week and I'm glad I have done that."
