The future of Kingstonian at Kingsmeadow will be decided today when AFC Wimbledon announce whether or not they plan to sell the shared stadium.

AFC Wimbledon currently ground share with Kingstonian but are in talks to sell the lease to Premier League champions Chelsea, who plan to use the ground as the home of their women’s team.

Members of the Dons Trust, the supporters’ group who own AFC Wimbledon, are set to announce today the results of the second round of voting of their Back in Two Ticks campaign, which aims to sell the ground to fund a move back to Merton.

A first vote of almost 2,000 people in October saw 98 per cent vote in favour of the sale.

The move has cast doubt over the future of Kingstonian, who face the possibility of having to find a new stadium for the start of the 2016/17 season in August if the second vote is passed.

Kingsmeadow is leased by the Dons from Kingston Council after they purchased the agreement for £2.4million from former Ks owner Rajesh Khosla in 2003.

The future of Kingstonian will now be debated by the council after a petition launched by supporters calling on the council to secure the 130-year-old club’s future surpassed the 500 signatures needed.

A spokeswoman for AFC Wimbledon would not confirm when the announcement would be made, but said the result would be published on their website.
