Leatherhead boss Richard Brady says opponents will continue to target Vas Karagiannis because he is too good for them.
The winger was sent off during Saturday’s Ryman Premier Division 4-4 draw at Canvey Island for retaliating to an alleged stamp.
Brady insists, with Tanners 3-2 ahead at time, that all the points would have been theirs if Karagiannis had not been sent off, and he wants his winger to do better.
“Vas was being roughed up, pinched and trodden on because when you have a threat in your team like him, the opposition have to find some way to deal with it,” Brady said.
“Vas’ patience broke when he was supposedly stamped on and he retaliated. The ref saw his push as a swing and sent him off.
“The Canvey guys got what they wanted and it got them a point.”
He added: “Vas has to do better, and normally he doesn’t mind the barging and pushing, the roughing up, but the stamp was too much.”
Karagiannis will miss the league games against East Thurrock United and Dulwich Hamlet, as well as the FA Cup tie against Holmesdale or South Park.
Leatherhead faced Dulwich Hamlet last night (Wednesday), and go to Brentwood this weekend.
