Brentford boss Mark Warburton has hit back at critics questioning his decision not to recruit heavily during the January transfer window.

The Bees were forced to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with struggling Millwall on Saturday thanks to late strikes from Alex Pritchard and new England U20 international Moses Odubajo.

Many fans had expected Warburton's men to roll the Lions over given the two teams' repsective position in the Championship table.

Brentford only added Lewis Macleod and young Blackburn Rovers dewdfender Jack O'Connell to their squad in January on a permanet basis and both are yet to feature for the first team with the former having struggled with injury and the latter heading to Rochdale on loan.

Warburton insists he will come good between now and the end of the campaign. but has asked fans to be patient.

And he has asked for supporters to show the same faith in the players as he has done this season as they bid to secure promotion to the Premier League.

"It is getting frustrating," said the manager.

"A guy came up to me and said the other day that it would be a travesty if we wasted this opportunity.

"And on other occasions, I've been asked why we didn't take loads of players in January and that we should have done.

"We are where we are now because of that squad. Are people saying those players not good enough to do the job now?

"This is a great squad of players and they have proved that. They have got us this far and they deserve to carry on doing their job, because they are good players."

He added: "We have seven games to go. They are tough, tough games.

"There are teams with big budgets scrapping for their lives at the bottom and teams around us will drop points.

"We have to concentrate on getting the results we need and see where that takes us."
