Brentford manager Mark Warburton was left seething on Saturday after Wigan Athletic made a second "unacceptable" bid for young midfielder Adam Forshaw.
Forshaw sat out the 3-2 pre-season victory over Crystal Palace, with Warburton concerned the bids were unsettling the player.
The 22-year-old joined Brentford initially in 2012 from Everton, and was signed by current Wigan boss Uwe Rosler.
The second bid is thought to have been in excess of £2m, but this is still far short of what the Bees boss believes is a realistic bid.
He said: “Adam Forshaw wasn’t playing because he’s the subject of a bid, and any bid is always unsettling to a young player.
“For me, I’m more concerned about his welfare so I told him to go away for a couple of days and get his head straight.
“A bid is only a bid when it’s realistic, but when it comes in and purely unsettles a player for me that is unacceptable.
“There has now been a second bid and that is also totally unacceptable.”
Forshaw was named League One player of the year last season, and Warburton remains adamant that they will not be selling a player of his quality with two years remaining on his contract to a rival Championship club.
