Ks boss Tommy Williams reckons next week’s clashes with Skrill Premier Braintree Town and Dover Athletic will be the perfect test of his side’s Ryman Premier League credentials.

Ks lost their unbeaten pre-season record as they suffered a 2-1 reverse at Tooting & Mitcham United on Saturday, despite taking the lead through a Josh Casey strike inside 20 seconds.

Braintree, managed by former Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Devonshire, arrive at Kingsmeadow tonight with Athletic pitching up the following Saturday.

And Williams, who hopes to tie up deals for trialists Dan Bennett and Chris Henry this week, believes the two games are vital to his team’s preparations ahead of the league kick-off on August 9.

“Pre-season is a little bit false really because it is all about how you are shaping up in terms of fitness and match sharpness,” he said.

“The matches with Braintree and Dover will be a different prospect.

“They are big physical sides and will be getting closer to where they want to be, so they will be competitive.

“We are ambitious and want to get up to where they are. They will be a good benchmark as to where we are, how far we have come and what we still have to do.”
