AFC Wimbledon new recruit Sean Rigg is raring to pull on the blue and yellow shirt and reacquaint himself with the Dons faithful.
The summer signing from Oxford was impressed with the Dons support when the Us visited the Cherry Red Records stadium in October.
Now he hopes to make a good impression after being cast aside towards the end of his Oxford career.
The former Bristol Rovers and Port Vale man said: “It was a surprise when I started to be left out of the Oxford team, but then I was not surprised to be released at the end of the season.
“When Chris Wilder left I got injured straight away so I had to get fit again, but when I was fit I wasn’t given a chance.
“It’s a shame, but that’s what happens in football and you have to bite the bullet.”
He added: “I want to do really well for AFC Wimbledon, it’s such a close-knit club, and the fans will do anything for the club, it has a great fan base.
“Every time I’ve played against them, I’ve always been impressed with their squad and fans so I’m really happy.”
Having become a father three years ago, the 25-year-old revealed that he has taken on more responsibility and is hoping to pass on some of his experience to the younger members of the Dons squad.
Rigg was released by Oxford after two years at the club, and is looking forward to moving house and settling down againas he looks to start a new chapter in his career.
He said: “We definitely have a lot of potential and with a fit strong squad if we keep the squad fit there’s always the possibility of promotion.
“I want to come in do my very best for the club, and hopefully I can add assistance and goals. I’m really looking forward to it.”
