Stuart Massey said he is 100 per cent behind the Robins chairman Paul Dipre as the battle between him and the Carshalton Athletic Independent Supporters Club (CAISC) continues.

Members of the CAISC gathered outside Colston Avenue prior to the Kingstonian match two weeks ago to protest against the banning of six supporters by the club owner Dipre.

Since Dipre took over the reins at the Ryman Premier side, the two factions have clashed over issues including the proposed installation of a 3G pitch, and the cutting of the player budget.

However, Massey, who has the support of fans on the forums, said he needs to be focused on keeping the Robins in the Premier League.

“I have spoken to everyone at every level about the situation, and I have listened to both sides,” he said.

“It is not the sort of thing I want to get involved in, but I am 100 per cent behind the chairman because we have a common aim for a successful football future of the club.

“I am quite hard-skinned, so I say let them have their little battles, and leave me to get on with the football.”

On the pitch, Massey has called for his players to toughen up after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at home to bottom club Cray Wanderers.

He said: “Cray were a physical side, something we lacked in certain areas.

“We were also without several key players and, while that’s not an excuse, we will need their experience to help get ourselves out of trouble.”

After Tuesday night’s clash with Grays Athletic was postponed, the Robins go to Bury Town on Saturday looking for a first league win in seven attempts.
