Life is tough at Kingsmeadow right now, but Dowson has that coping mentality

Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson is taking a long, hard look at himself in the mirror in the face of a growing problem.

Following last weekend’s  2-0 Ryman Premier League defeat at home to Bury Town, Ks are 10 points off the play-offs in ninth spot.

Saturday’s defeat meant Dowson’s men have not won in six league games, and have scored just two goals in that time.

And there were was more woe for Dowson on Saturday after Wade Small was sent off before half-time for two bookable offences.

Dowson said: “When results are not going your way, management is the loneliest job in the world.

“I’ve taken a long, hard look at myself in the mirror and I know that all we need is a goal and a win – it does not matter if the ball comes off someone’s backside, we need a win.

“I’ll never rule us out of the play-off race until it is a mathematical impossibility because I have seen crazy things happen in this league before.”

Small is expected to miss two games when his ban begins in two weeks’ time.

Dowson said: “We could have done without that, and indiscipline is something I need to address because we are picking up too   many bookings.”

Ks travel to struggling Lewes this weekend, before hosting Lowestoft on Monday night.

Dowson said: “Lewes is going to be tough. Both sides are struggling and form goes out the window.

“But we need three points and I know we can beat them. We have to.”
