Well what a way to end the season, yet another win to make it seven out of seven in April with no goals conceded in the last five games.
In truth the match itself wasn’t a great spectacle, not helped by a shocking playing surface, but United did a job effectively once again and were never really troubled by Oxford City.
The party in the stands among the fans was excellent and great fun to be a part of – it was another one of those days that you don’t easily forget.
So the focus now switches to next season in the National League Premier, sure to be a tough but exciting year with visits to massive clubs such as Tranmere and Grimsby on the cards.
The target I would imagine is 50 points, the number usually required to ensure survival in a 46-team division, although there will be a confidence among the players and management that we can go well above that target.
It will be an interesting summer, with Paul Doswell facing the task of holding on to his best players as well as maybe recruiting a few new faces.
The Boost the Budget scheme will hopefully be a huge help to do this as the amber and chocolates aim to financially adjust to the higher division.
I for one hope the time between now and the August 6 goes quickly as the excitement for the new season starts to build already – it’s sure to be a great experience and hopefully a lot more too
