Bees boss needs to plug the holes

Brentford manager Andy Scott bemoaned his side's lack of strength when things go against them after Saturday's 3-0 home defeat by Hereford United.

All three Hereford goals came from the Bees losing the ball at Griffin Park on Saturday - from two throw-ins and a free kick.

"We totally dominated the first 15 minutes," said Scott.

"But what we haven't got, which the teams above us do have, is the right reaction when things go against them.

"Until we realise we need to do certain things to get into the game we won't progress."

Scott has been handed a five-year contract to turn around the club's fortunes after presiding over an encouraging second half to the season.

And top priority will be improving a defensive record amongst the worst in League Two.

"We have probably got the third or fourth defensive record in this division," said Scott.

"We have let in 69 goals over 45 games and it is not just from a defensive point of view - that is a team problem.

"We are not solid enough. We don't react well enough when things go against us.

"We need more leadership on the pitch."
