Scott wants to be Bulls party-pooper

Hereford United have been warned to keep the promotion champagne on ice at Griffin Park on Saturday.

The Bulls can clinch promotion to League One with a victory over Brentford, providing Stockport County lose.

Bees boss Andy Scott, whose side have won just four of their past 13 games since briefly raising hopes of a play-off tilt, has urged his players to end the season with a bang.

He is likely to continue tinkering as he prepares for next season, but is adamant it will not be detrimental to results, starting with the weekend.

"No one likes getting beaten on their own ground and I, for one, don't want them to have a promotion party on the pitch afterwards. They can do that next weekend," he said.

"I would like to win. They gave as a walloping at their place and I think it will provide a good indication of how far we have come and how much further we have to go."

The Bees have leaked 66 goals this season and Scott, below, has ordered his defence to tighten up to finish the campaign in style.

Midfielder Gary Smith is confident a win will put the side in the right frame of mind come the pre-season.

He said: "When you start next year, you always remember the end of the previous season and it will be better to start on the back of two wins."
