Skipper Matt Heywood insists he wants to stay at Brentford, but boss Andy Scott is unsure whether he will be able to hold onto his star defender.
Talks have been ongoing this week with the Bees discussing new terms with Heywood's agent.
"Hopefully it will get sorted because I want to stay here," said the 28-year-old former Bristol City defender.
"I am not looking to go elswhere. Hopefully it will get sorted in the next couple of weeks."
But Scott admitted he was being forced to look at other options in case Heywood didn't sign.
"We have made the offer, but I am not sure he is interested in it at the moment," said Scott.
"I have a list of replacements if we cannot reach an agreement."
