The game started off very evenly with Ashford just managing to ease themselves ahead by 4 shots at the half way stage. Ashford pushed ahead and with 6 ends remaining were comfortably 11 shots in front.

Then disaster struck as Ashford wilted in the hot weather and not only allowed their opponents to catch up but also steal a 1 shot victory with the very last bowl of the match. Top scorers for Ashford were John Gammon, Aileen Anderson, Cliff Tanner and Colin Staples with a 32 - 5 win.

Early on in the game Windsor & Eton had a narrow 1 shot advantage. However Ashford were just warming up and were 15 shots ahead after 10 ends.

Ashford continued to press ahead and couldn't do much wrong as the shots piled up. Ashford finished up winning four of the five rinks played to win the match easily. Ashfords top scorers were Cliff Tanner, Norma Evans, Dennis Cliff and Colin Staples with a 32 - 6 victory.
