Croydon Harrier long jumper Paul Ogun leapt to a new lifetime best at the England Championships in Bedford to claim silver.

The 27-year-old jumped to 7.79m to finish 17cm shy of gold.

Teammate Samuel Osewa finished fifth in the final of the 100m in a lifetime best 10.35secs in a race won by Birchfield’s Joel Fearon, who ran the fastest time in the UK this year of 9.96secs.

Ashleigh Clarke (12.41secs) and Lee McLaughlin (10.74secs) were in action in the heats of the men’s and women’s 100m respectively.

Several Harriers helped Surrey win the the U13 Southern inter-county competition at Kingston.

Xander Collins finished second in the 75m hurdles in 12.36secs, while Ayo Salako was fourth in the 100m in 13.09secs.

In the girls' section, India Toasland was fifth in the 75m hurdles in 11.74secs.

At the British Masters Championships at Birmingham, Linda Oxlade won the W65 pentathlon gold while husband Colin was sixth in M55 10,000m.
