Croydon Harriers secured a second Southern Athletics League victory of the season in Saturday's third round at Croydon Arena.

The hosts eventually pulled away from their opponents after a nervy start, finishing on 199 points from Luton (176), Ryston Runners (173.5) and Colchester & Tendring (164.5) in Division Two East action.

In the men’s track action, Surrey 10-mile road race champion Ben Savill comfortably won the 5,000m in 15 minutes 50.2 seconds, followed by non-scoring clubmate Peter Mills (16:00.5).

Jake English would secure maximum points winning the B event in 16:39.8.

Savill then teamed up with fellow London 2012 Gamesmaker Dom Nolan to secure maximum points in the 1,500m, with Nolan clocking 4:09.8 in the A race and Savill clocking 4:19.3 in the B race.

On the field, Emmanuel Thomas (3.80m) and Sam Haswell (3.40m) secured a double win in the pole vault.

The quartet of Thomas, James Eccles  - who took part in eight events throughout the day - captain Kyle Andrews and Matt Pepper were triumphant in the 4x100m relay.

In the women’s competition, there were A wins in the 100m (Tosin Salami, 12.7secs), 200m (Twinelle Hopeson, 25.5secs) and 400m (Rhiannon Gayle, 59.4secs).

Hopeson would also triumph in the 100m hurdles in 15.0secs, with Zoe Fossett securing the B victory.

Fossett also won the pole vault (2.80m) and then supported her sister and captain Emma Fossett in the javelin, with the latter winning in a new club record of 37.51m.

The quartet of Salami, Hopeson, Ines Zepa and Esinam Dake won the 4x100m in 49.5secs.
