Olympic sprinter Dwayne Chambers made a surprise appearance in Hercules Wimbledon’s home Rosenheim League meeting at Wimbledon Park last week, but he got more than he bargained for as he was beaten by Hercules Dwayne Cowan in the 200m.

Cowan showed fine form as he sprinted past Chambers in the home straight to win comfortably in 21.35 seconds with Chambers running for Belgrave Harriers, clocking 21.68secs.

Elsewhere, Hercules’ Chad Miller secured his place in Surrey’s team for the English Schools Championships next month by taking the silver medal in the intermediate boys 200m in a personal best of 22.39secs at Kingsmeadow Stadium on Saturday.

Earlier, he also improved on his previous best by winning his heat in 22.52.

Cassian Hyde was third in the senior boys 1,500m and Lloyd Smith third in the intermediate boys 800m.

Andrei Smirnov and Sam Chetwynd took the intermediate boys 100m hurdles and discus titles at the London Schools Championships in Battersea Park.
