Croydon Harrier Lee McLaughlin finished fifth in the 60m at the South of England indoor championships at Lee Valley this weekend.

The 24-year-old won his heat comfortably before clocking a season’s best of 6.91secs in the semi- final to reach the final six, where he would cross the line in 6.95secs.

Club colleagues Oweka Wanogho (7.06secs) and Damien Powell (7.10secs) also reached the semi-final stage, while Oje Izirien (7.56secs), Rhys Edwards-Whittle (7.36secs) and Kyle Andrews were in action in the opening heats.

In the U20 men’s 60m event, Edwin Miles (7.24secs) made the semi-finals finishing just outside the qualification spots for the final in third. Armani Thomas finished fifth in his heat in 7.68secs.

Elsewhere, Jake English notched his 18th win at Crystal Palace parkrun and followed this up with a third place finish at the Royal Parks 10K at the Olympic Park. His time of 34 minutes 39 seconds was a new lifetime best in the 460-strong field.

Glenn Barden was first home at Walthamstow parkrun and Mark Lynch was third at Lloyd Park.
