Croydon Harrier Jake English enjoyed his 17th victory at Crystal Palace parkrun.

The 19 year-old, whose next aim will be the Surrey County Championships at Lloyd Park on January 3, clocked 17 minutes 14 seconds.

Elsewhere in parkrun action, there were two runner-ups for Croydon athletes including Omar Harhara (18:20, Riddlesdown) fresh from inter-county action, and David Chambers in South Bank in Brisbane.

At the South of Thames cross-country championships at Farthing Downs in Coulsdon, Glenn Barden led the men’s challenge home in 132nd in the 283-strong field.

He was followed by James Moore (170th), Andy Del Nevo (227th), Keith Brown (252nd) and Norman Hemming (268th).

The Croydon team finished 21st in the team standings.

In the women’s race Claire Turner (63rd) and Jules Williams (67th) kept the club flag flying.
