Hercules Wimbledon Athletic Club had two winners in parkrun events over the weekend with Jonathan Cornish securing victory in Richmond Park and Lisa Thomas taking the women's event on Wimbledon Common.

Cornish posted his fourth win of the year in the Richmond Park event where he headed home a 280-strong field in 16 minutes 16 seconds, just eight seconds outside his best time for the event set in September.

Alexander Abrahams, 12, clocked a personal best of 19:35 in 15th place, improving by 20 seconds on his best set the previous weekend.

Over-45 veteran Thomas posted her 25th women's race victory of the year in marking her 200th appearance in parkrun events by winning the women's event on Wimbledon Common in 20:32.

She narrowly beat her Hercules Wimbledon clubmate Gina Galbraith who was one second behind in second place.

Top Hercules Wimbledon finisher in Saturday's Wimbledon Common event was marathon runner David Grima who was fifth out of 267 runners in 18:40.

Charles Hampden-Smith was second in the men's over 50 category in 20:33, with Richard Evans third over-50 veteran in 21:04 and John Krause fifth over-50 finisher in 21:13. Charles Lawrie was third over-65 finisher in 24:52.

Hercules Wimbledon's over-60 veteran Barry King also made his 200th parkrun appearance when he finished 153rd out of 964 runners in Bushy Park in 21:57.

He made his parkrun debut in February 2007 and all but 13 of them have been in Bushy Park.

 His daughter, Florence England, completed her 100th parkrun with a personal best time in Bushy Park of 24:53 - she took 41 seconds off her previous best set in November 2012.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Isabelle Ellis had another fine run in the Bishop's Park event in Fulham where she sliced just one second off the Hercules Wimbledon U15 girls club record she set the previous week. She was third in the women's race in 20:05.

Hampden-Smith and Thomas completed busy weekends when they were among five Hercules Wimbledon runners in the Pirie 10 miles cross-country race on Farthing Downs, Coulsdon, on Sunday.

Top Hercules Wimbledon finisher was Phil Glynn who was sixth of the 113 runners in 60:00.

Hampden-Smith was 24th and fifth over-50 finisher in 68:14, while Thomas was seventh in the women's race and second veteran over-45 in 72:29.

Hercules Wimbledon's Kieran White finished 11th out of 284 runners in the Wolverton five miles road race on Saturday in 26:29.

In Battersea Park, Rob Tuer was 36th out of almost 450 runners in the Self Transcendence 10km road race in Battersea Park in 35:31. Chris Ore was 46th in 36:03.

This weekend, Hercules Wimbledon's cross-country runners are in action in the second of this season's 2XU Surrey Ladies League meetings in Nonsuch Park on Saturday. The senior race is at noon, followed by races for the younger age groups.
