Hercules Wimbledon Athletic Club's veteran woman pole vaulter Alison Murray smashed her own club indoor record at the David Weir Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Murray, 47, was joint winner of the women's event at the London Pole Vault Academy Invitation meeting with a 2.87m clearance.

Her winning clearance was 17cm higher than her previous club record set at Lee Valley Athletics Centre in February.

Elsewhere, Alex Bruce-Littlewood helped England to a team victory in the Home Countries cross-country international at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, on Saturday when he finished third out of 29 runners in the senior men's race in 32 minutes.

He was 27 seconds behind the race winner, and the third scoring member of the winning English team.

Hercules Wimbledon's over-45 veteran Tom Cheetham continued his preparations for the London marathon next month by posting a fast time in the Hastings half-marathon on Sunday.

He was 11th in his age category in 1.26:58, just over half-a-minute slower than his best time for the distance.

Also on the road, Hercules Wimbledon's Kieran White clocked his fastest time for two years when he finished 33rd out of more than 2,000 runners in the B&Q Eastleigh 10km road race on Sunday in 33:00.

He was 34 seconds outside his best time set in the Honington event in 2012, and was the fourth over-35 veteran to finish.

Hercules Wimbledon's veteran over-45 runner Lisa Thomas had another record-breaking weekend.

After finishing fifth in the women's race in the Wimbledon Common parkrun on Saturday, she was runner-up in the women's race in Perserverance half-marathon in Richmond on Sunday in 1:39:02, a club veteran women's over-45 record.

It was the longest race of her athletics career and her time smashed the previous club record of 1.44:00 set by Alison Purnell at Henley in January 2011.

First Hercules Wimbledon finisher was over-45 veteran Stephen McDuell who clocked a personal best time of 1.28:52.

Gina Galbraith clocked a personal best time in finishing 138th overall out of more than 3000 runners in 1:30:45. Mike Leigh clocked a Hercules Wimbledon men's veteran over 70 record of 1:57:48.

Hercules Wimbledon's road runners will be in action in the final East Surrey League event of the season at Poole Road Recreation Ground, West Ewell, on April 3.

The races will be run over a four-mile circuit and start at 7pm.
