Queensbury Boxing League’s British middleweight champion Gareth Gardner is focussed on maintaining his perfect record when he faces rival Viktor Voros in the first defence of his title later this month.

The 27-year-old New Addington carpenter claimed his second title in quick succession in March with a comprehensive points victory over Michael McPherson and will be hoping for another big showing on June 30 at the Effingham Park Hotel.

Hungarian Voros enters the bout with an impressive amateur record in his native country but Gardner is in no mood to give up his belt.

“Knowing he’s coming to try and take my title away from me gives me all the motivation I need,” he said.

“I’m right on target and I’ve been doing lots of running, sparring and fitness training in the build up, so, hopefully, my army of fans will be there again to support me as I’m planning on putting on a show for them.”

Croydon fighters Tom Clemmy and Lawrence Lofts are also be on the bill.
