Alan Devonshire is proud of Hampton & Richmond's achievements this season despite the 3-0 defeat at Fisher Athletic in Monday's Ryman Premier play-off final.

Goals from Steve Watts, Hamid Barr and Chris Piper took Fisher into the Conference South, with Hampton left to rue the absences of key defenders Dean Wells and Andy Morley through injury and suspended keeper Matt Lovett.

"Of course, I was disappointed because I didn't think the scoreline was a fair reflection of the game," said Devonshire.

"I thought we gave a good account of ourselves Fisher just took their chances on the day and we didn't.

"In the end, though, it wasn't a surprise. I thought we did the best with what the board could give us."

Having led Hampton to victory in the Middlesex Senior Cup last month, Devonshire has already committed to managing Hampton next season, but he is eager to find out the effects of chairman David Cole's resignation.

Cole, forced to step down after being disqualified as a director, is returning to the courts to ask for special dispensation to carry on as a director at Hampton.
