A goal from Lasse Vibe ensured Brentford took a point from Ewood Park following this 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, writes Simon Webster.

But it could have been so so much more, as the Bees turned in an inventive display that produced a number of first half chances in particular.

After being pegged back just before the break, they were unable to break the stalemate during the second half.

There was little action of note in the opening quarter, with Brentford passing the ball around well but failing to create any clear chances.

They then appeared to suffered a blow when Marco Djuricin was stretchered off injured.

Yet just two minutes later the Bees took the lead when Alan McCormack picked out John Swift and a deft through ball found Lasse Vibe, who's strength took him away from his marker before his shot hit Rovers' keeper Jason Steele and looped into the net.

In response Ben Marshall looked lively for the home side. A cross from the right fizzed cross Brentford's six yard box, while a shot from outside the box a minute later was deflected for a corner.

A quick break by the Bees saw Ryan Woods and Swift combine, with the Chelsea loanee firing just wide.

Rovers equalised after a throw in on the left close to the penalty spot was picked up by Tom Lawrence and he curled a low shot into the bottom right hand corner.

Blackburn almost took the lead when Lawrence's powerful shot from the right hand side struck the near post and was scrambled clear.

Brentford continued to seek chances on the break, with a good run by Swift setting up Woods, but he was disappointed to shoot wide from 20 yards.

The Bees had another good chance just before the break when McCormack exchanged passes with substitute Kerschbaumer, with the Irishman then seeing his well struck shot palmed away by Steele.

Swift had Brentford's first chance of the second half, but his 25 yard free kick was comfortably saved.

After picking up the ball in midfield Kerschbaumer found Vibe, and the striker's determined run through the heart of Blackburn's defence ended with his shot being deflected and cleared.

McCormack was the next to try his luck for the Bees, firing wide left from just outside the box.

Some nifty footwork from Woods on the right touchline saw the balled played to Kerschbaumer, but his shot was blocked at the near post by Steele for a corner.

Ben Marshall had by far Blackburn's best chance of the second half, with Button making a superb fingertip save at full stretch to turn his shot round the right hand post.
