Bees striker Andre Gray may look like he is running on empty, but boss Mark Warburton has warned Middlesbrough he has more goals in the tank.

The 23-year-old netted his side’s third goal in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic that set-up tomorrow’s Championship play-off semi-final first leg clash with the north east giants at Griffin Park.

Gray, who signed from Conference champions Luton Town last summer, has made 45 league appearances this term and scored 17 goals in the process.

That is way more games than he might have thought he would have played in a season that has seen him almost single-handedly lead the line.

Far from being tired, his manager believes he still has plenty to give over what he hopes will be the last three games of the campaign.

And Gray will continue to answer his critics with a smile on his face.

“People say he is looking tight. He gets frustrated with himself,” said Warburton this week.

“He has scored 17 goals in the Championship coming out of the Conference at 23 years of age. Unbelievable. He has led the line all season.

"Players read fans forums, websites and the papers. There have been some hurtful comments, which have affected him in terms of putting pressure on himself.

“He’s too good for that. I pulled him into a room before the game and told him to enjoy it.

“He got another goal on Saturday and hopefully there will be a few more to come.”
