Brentford midfielder Jonathan Douglas is close to putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Championship high flyers.

The 33-year-old, out of contract in the summer, has been outstanding for his side this season, but was not tempted away from Griffin Park during the January transfer window.

Contract talks have been on-going throughout the season, and Warburton is confident the end is in sight.

“We are very, very close. We just want to make sure everything is right,” he said.

“Agreeing new contracts is all about looking at a player’s performances and Jonathan Douglas has been fantastic for us this season.

“We want him to be happy and to be able to focus on his football without worrying about this.”
