Hercules Wimbledon Athletic Club's senior women's track & field team made history when they won the Rosenheim League Eastern division women’s title for the first time since the women's competition was introduced in 2010.

Going into the last of the five divisional matches with a narrow lead, the club dominated the match and ran out comfortable winners scoring almost twice the number of points of their nearest rivals.

Surrey and South of England long jump medallist Emily Martin made a valuable contribution winning the long jump (5.21m) and taking second place in the hammer and 100m.

Lisa Thomas set a club veteran women's over-45 record in finishing second in the 3,000m (11 minutes 1.6 seconds), and then she linked up with Shirley Denchie, Hannah Fernando and Heather Letley to anchor the 4x200m relay team to victory.

Elsewhere, Hercules’ talented young sprinter Jaleel Ropar was in superb form when he helped the Surrey team to second place in the boys’ U13 inter-counties meeting at Kingsmeadow stadium on Sunday.

Ropar, 11, broke the club U13 boys’ 200m record when he won his race in 24.90secs.

He smashed the previous record of 25.40secs set by Martin Giraud in 1990. Ropar also won his 100m race in 12.22.

He is ranked fourth in the UK this summer in his age group over both distances.
