Croydon Harriers’ young athletes are top of the UK Youth Development League Premier Two Division after winning their second round fixture at Croydon Arena on Saturday.

Charles Hagan shone with individual wins, equalling his own league record in the U13 boy’s long jump with a 5.22m leap and winning the 100m (12.20seconds) and 200m (24.76secs).

Ange Gbeyo took the B honours to ensure maximum points.

Gbeyo went on to win the U13 boys' shot putt with a 10.10m throw and Ugo Ajeh won the B event in 7.55m.

Versatile Ajeh would leap to 1.38m in the high jump to take the victory, while Jack Ennis cleared 1.30m to top the B standings.

The U15 boys' age group would be a particularly fruitful for Croydon with four event maximums.

Tyrese Johnson and Chuks Ajeh dominated the 100m and 200m events, with Johnson proceeding to team up with Nathaneal Marshall to win the shot putt as well.

Leon Blatch (35.96m) and Alex Tischler (31.10m) made it a double win in the javelin and Edenham pupil Verter Oppong-Kyei was well clear in the long jump thanks to a leap of 5.79m.

In the U13 girls' ranks, Marcia Sey was in imperious form winning three events the 75m, 150m and 70m hurdles.

Croydon’s sprint relay teams dominated proceedings to bring the curtain down on the day, winning all four relays.
