Rosslyn Park head coach Alex Codling is going nowhere because his project at Priory Lane is not over yet.

Park missed out on promotion to the Championship by just three points as full-time Doncaster Knights were crowned as National League One champions.

Despite the disappointment, Codling, pictured, was full of praise for his side, and insisted he will be around next season to continue their development.

“I will be here next year because this is a project I am very excited about seeing through,” he said.

“We have a great bunch of lads here and working with them is a joy, they are so committed and keen.

“The core group are staying, which is key, and I am looking forward to taking the next step forward next season.”

He added: “We were disappointed to miss out on promotion, of course, but to finish 24 points ahead of the third place team tells you a lot about where we’ve come from and where we’re going.”

Meanwhile, the players’ player of the year award went to Sam Shires, and the coaches’ player of the year was collected by Adam Bellamy.

The try of the year went to Paul Mackey for his effort in the 28-7 win at Richmond in December.

The first ever women’s London floodlit 7s competition takes place at Priory Lane on May 15.

The Rosslyn Park Slingbacks will face Finland and the Moody Cows in their pool games, while teams from Wimbledon, Richmond, Saracens and Wasps will also be taking part.

Gates open at 5pm, it all kicks off at 5.30pm and entry is £2.
