Kingston boxer Anthony Ayinde says he is training like a “Spartan” for the biggest fight of his life next month, when he gets his first shot at title glory.

The 22-year-old welterweight will step through the ropes next month to challenge for the vacant Queensbury Boxing League novice welterweight title against old rival Ashley Dansie in the co main event of the Challenger Boxing Series event.

Ayinde has strung together an impressive run of victories in the competition since his first and only loss against Dansie on his Queensbury debut back in September of 2013 when the pair met on their respective debuts at the Epsom Downs Racecourse.

But Ayinde believes his only blip on a perfect record was down to taking the fight at only ten days notice, and is confident the sequel will produce a very different outcome.

“When I met Dansie on my debut I had taken the fight at only 10 days notice and just wasn’t fit enough, but this time I’m coming into the fight with plenty of time to prepare and you’re going to see a very different result," he said.

“Since that first meeting we’ve both come a long way and are both more experienced in the league, and this time I feel that I’m going to be a much more dangerous fighter and I really feel with the training I’m putting in I do have the power to stop him if I catch him."

Based out of the Kingston Boxing Gym under the guidance of trainer Mark Fitch, Ayinde has shown noticeable improvements in every fight culminating with a near faultless display back in February beating Alan Harper on points to set up his title charge.

But with Dansie also looking in red hot form during his last outing, the clash looks set to produce one of the fights of the season when the duo collide on June 8 at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex.
