Mike Friday admits London Scottish have it all to do if they are to secure a top four Championship finish in April.

The Athletic Ground outfit suffered a blow to their play-off aspirations last weekend losing 15-12 to Rotherham Titans at Clifton Lane having let slip a 12-3 half-time advantage.

Backs coach Friday now believes Scottish, for whom USA international scrum half Robbie Shaw made his first start on Saturday, have to win at in-form Leeds Carnegie on March 2, to remain in the promotion hunt.

“The fact of the matter is we cannot afford to slip up,” he said.

“We have to go to Leeds and win that game and even then we still have a number of tough games left.

“It’s still very much in our own hands although we are running out of our get out of jail cards.”

Friday was disappointed with Scottish’s second half performance against Titans last week as they failed to hold on to a nine-point interval lead with the league’s top points scorer Juan Pablo Socino kicking the hosts to victory.

The former England Sevens supremo says his team’s indiscipline proved their downfall as they suffered a second narrow defeat to Rotherham this season.

He said: “We have to be brutally honest, some of our discipline was not what it should have been.

“The reality is we had two players sin-binned in the second half which were unnecessary and it cost us. We cannot hide from that fact.

“We have to learn the lessons and come out stronger, faster and better against Leeds.”
