Ashes winning England captain Charlotte Edwards MBE dropped in on Coombe Girls' School last week to deliver a batting masterclass.

The 34-year-old put students through their paces as part of the Cricket Foundation's StreetChance inner-city cricket initiative on Friday run in partnership with  Barclays Spaces for Sports.

Edwards, who masterminded England's Ashes victory in Australia last month, visited the school 24 hours after news the England women's cricket team would become full-time professionals thanks to an ECB funding boost to the women's game.

The measures will also see more money diverted to developing the sport in urban and inner-city areas.

StreetChance has engaged more than 25,000 young people since 2008 and over the next 18 months aims to work with a further 8,000 young people in seven cities across the UK.
