Director of rugby Steve Hill hailed his Richmond comeback kids after watching them secure a valuable five points in their battle against the National Division One drop.

Tries from Chris Davies, Will Browne and Harry Edwards added to one from James Kyle as Hill's men came from 26-7 down to win 31-26 at Blaydon on Saturday.

The hosts had won eight of their previous nine home games and the win lifted Richmond to 10th in the table, leaving Hill delighted.

He said: "This was the an outstanding comeback given the hole we had dug for ourselves.

"Our ambition to play ball in hand rugby, even in such testing conditions proved, absolutely right as our hosts struggled to deal with our attack.

"The players will be unhappy with the early conceded tries, but this will be more than made up for in their delight at having come back against such good opponents to secure five precious points."
