Teddington ladies got a fitness boost last week as they took part in a team bonding appearance at the Bushy Park Santa Claus fun run on Sunday.

Third team star Eleanor Figueiredo organised the effort, which helped raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice, as well as the Broom Road club’s team spirit.

“This was the perfect opportunity to get the team together outside of regular training times while also helping to improve our fitness levels,” said Figueiredo.

The ladies first team need all the help they can get as they are winless in Women’s South Division One after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Staines, which left them rooted to the foot of the table.

As for the men, they made it three defeats from their last three games as Richmond Hockey Club went into the Christmas break with the bragging rights after a 3-1 win on Sunday.

Goals from Chris Todd, Iain Robson and Euan Corbett at Grove Park over-turned an early Ben Gallagher strike for Teddington.

The win was only Richmond’s third in 11 MHL Conference East games, and their first in five attempts.

Teddington were favourites, but  claimed more yellow card than goals, with three transgressions.

Richmond are back in  outdoor action on February 8 at Old Loughtonians, while Teddington host St Albans on February 9.
