Moone is keeping the faith as Hampton & Richmond look to break winless streak
Charlie Moone is keeping the faith that Hampton & Richmond Borough will turn results around after a “frustrating” start to the Ryman Premier season.
The Beavers have just two points from five games – moreover, they have scored just two goals in that time.
Hitman Moone returned from Boreham Wood United in the summer to spearhead the Beavers’ attack, and although he has scored both goals, the club has made a seven-day approach for another front man.
Moone said: “I don’t put any pressure on myself to get goals. It is my job to get them, and I know I will get them.
“I know we’ve only had two goals, but it is something we’re working on and they will come.”
He added: “We’re still considered a big club in this league and we have to live up to that, so we’re looking hard at where we can put things right.”
The Beavers picked up their points with draws at Lewes and Bury Town, and they will be looking for their first win of the season at East Thurrock United tomorrow.
Moone said: “We had a tough start to the season because we were missing something like eight senior players through injury or suspension.
“We’re not a Premier League team that can cope with losing eight players. We have a great squad but losing that many put a strain on us, as it would any team.
“Maybe we have been a little inexperienced at the back, but this start is more frustrating than worrying.”
He added: “Besides, there is a long way to go and I have every faith in Paul [Barry] and Darren [Powell].”
Hampton & Richmond Borough’s weekend clash with Cray Wanderers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and has been re-arranged for September 17.
The Beavers have also moved their clash with Met Police to September 11 to avoid clashing with England’s World Cup qualifier 24 hours earlier.
