Doswell's one regret ahead of Sutton United's final pre-season clash
As Sutton United bring their pre-season to an end this weekend at Farnborough, boss Paul Doswell has one regret.
His new striker, Jamie Taylor, finally got on the scoresheet in last weekend’s 3-2 win over Aldershot at Gander Green Lane, after missing most of the build-up to the Skrill South season with injury.
In Taylor’s absence, his strike partner Jamie Slabber has been among the goals, but Slabber missed the Aldershot friendly with a sore thigh, meaning the pair are yet to play together for any length of time.
Doswell said: “It was good to get Jamie [Taylor] back with a goal, although the fact that we haven’t managed to play him with Jamie Slabber is one of the minuses of the preseason campaign.
“But, if you look at our pre-season, we’ve generally had one good half in each game. Certainly, the second halves of the past two, and in the earlier games, we had decent spells.
“So, now we need to press on and get two good halves in the same game, and everything’s geared up towards doing that at Farnborough at the weekend.”
