Clunis at the double keeps Dulwich Hamlet on the tails of leaders Maidstone
3:24pm Wednesday 13th February 2013 in Sport
Dulwich Hamlet are in the driving seat for the Ryman League Division One South title after a 4-1 demolition of Merstham at Champion Hill.
Nyren Clunis scored twice, while Xavier Vidal and Danny Carr’s penalty – his 10th League goal of the season – had Hamlet way ahead of the visitors before they grabbed a late consolation.
Gavin Rose’s men are now unbeaten in the league in 12 games and have scored 33 goals in that time.
Because of a huge raft of postponements, and the abandoned game at Leatherhead, Hamlet had not played a league match since the middle of January.
However, although Hamlet remain second in the table, four points behind Maidstone United, they have three games in hand.
This weekend, Hamlet host bottom club Three Bridges - who took a point of play-off challengers Leatherhead last weekend.
* The match against Leatherhead, which was abandoned when a wall collapsed, is scheduled to be replayed on April 9.
