The York House Society summer social has become an eagerly awaited annual fixture and members and their guests quickly filled the Terrace room, spilling out into the beautiful grounds at the house in Twickenham.
Chairman Joy Lee said of the event on June 13: "It was one of our best evenings with guests representing many local groups and more than half our members present".
The roll call included Dr Vince Cable MP and his wife Rachel, Mike Cherry, Twickenham Local History Society chairman; Fraser Cullen of the RFU; Tony and Robina Beckles Willson, Twickenham Museum; Geoffrey and Heather Morgan, the Twickenham Society; John Bell and Jane Smith, Twickenham Town Centre Management Board; Esther Worboys, Twickenham Town Centre manager, Reg and Gillian Leach, the borough's Parks Department; Eugene and Christiane Bacot, past chairman the Strawberry Hill Residents' Association; Cllr Clare and Colin Head, chairman of Friends of Radnor Gardens; Jenny Hilton, chairman Teddington Society; Lady Rosemary Hill, chairman Hampton Society, Michael Snodin, Strawberry Hill House Trust, Maurice and Catherine Parry-Wingfield, Friends of Turner's House, Simon Bartlett, Richmond Shakespeare Society and Rachel Tranter, head of the RuT Arts Department The next meeting of the York House Society is at 8pm on October 3.
