Local residents are being invited to take part in a free Summer Solstice yoga session in the grounds of Marble Hill House in Twickenham next week.

The Salute to the Sun yoga session will take place at 7.45am on Wednesday 21 June to celebrate midsummer and mark the longest day of the year. The session will be led by local yoga instructor Tina Moxon from Lotus and Laurel Yoga and those interested in taking part will just need to turn up on the day and bring a mat for the 45-minute session.

Kate Pitt from English Heritage commented: “Come along and join us in the Pleasure Ground at Marble Hill House and celebrate midsummer by enjoying a free yoga session. It’s open to everyone so set your alarm clock early, bring along your yoga mat and join us there.”

Tina is part of the Inspired Women group, a local networking group made up of women from Richmond, Twickenham and the surrounding areas. The group is working with English Heritage as part of the charity’s Marble Hill Revived project to set up a mentoring group for young women from disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in starting their own businesses.

As part of the Marble Hill Revived project, English Heritage is working with the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore elements of the lost gardens of Henrietta’s lifetime, and to improve facilities throughout the park and house.

The Salute to the Sun Yoga session is free to join and takes place on Wednesday 21 June, from 7.30 – 8.15am in the Pleasure Ground at Marble Hill House & Park (Richmond Road, Twickenham, TW1 2NL). No booking is required; those interested in taking part can just turn up on the morning.
