Pupils from Falcons School for Boys showcased their creativity with an art exhibition which raised over £3,000 for charity.

The boys from the Pre-preparatory and the Preparatory school selected their best work from the year to display at St Michael and All Angels Church, Bath Road, Chiswick.

Over 400 variations were shown and special guest, professional London-based artist, Luke Martineau officially opened the exhibition. Luke had the difficult task of selecting two boys in each year group to receive a special commendation for their work. The chosen pupils were presented with certificates for their effort.

Each year group also worked together to create a large canvas painting to be sold during a silent auction. This year in excess of £3,000 was raised from the auction.  The proceeds will go to the school’s chosen charity, The House of Daraa, a Syrian relief charity and The Wooden Spoon Charity. However, the money raised from one of the paintings will be donated to The Poppy Factory, based in Richmond. The school has close affiliations with the factory and wanted to do a little extra for the third World War One commemoration year.

Head of Art and Design at Falcons School for Boys Isabella Broadbent, commented: “There was a great turn out with a steady flow of people throughout the day. The parents and pupils loved it and the artist was very impressed by the range and quality of art on display, which was fantastic to hear as an art teacher. He found it difficult to choose just two boys per year.

“It was also incredible to raise such a large amount of money in one event. The charities carry out such important work so we are glad to be able to contribute something towards that.”
